| Experience: | I have been tutoring since my freshman year in high school in both math and science. My senior year, I began to be paid to tutor a freshman boy in algebra 1 and physics who had severe learning disabilities. We raised his grade from an F to a C in one semester! Also during my senior year, I began to work at Sylvan Learning Center as a teacher's aide and was often asked to teach the students upper level math when a math tutor was not available on a certain day.
My SAT scores were 800 for math and writing and 740 on critical reading. I have also gotten 5's on english language, english literature, chemistry and calculus AB and BC exams, and 4's on physics and biology. This semester I am taking community health, biology 13, spanish 1, and a philosophical english class called "Modern Mind." I am also developing my teaching skills working with a public speaking tutor, and am involved in Peer Health Exchange, a program where college students are trained to teach Health in Boston Area schools without funding for their health programs. |
| Hobbies: | I am very into children -- a friend and I are starting the first Tufts-associated girl scout troop (brownies!), and I am very interested in pursuing child development as a second major (in conjunction with community health). I play soccer and field hockey |
