Education

I am a Junior History Major and Spanish Minor at Southern Oregon University, and have a 3.66 GPA.

Experience

I have not had a ton of tutoring experience, however I have worked with university level students who are learning English, and helping them practice their English and understand difficult grammar rules. As for my SAT, my total combined score of all three sections was about 1650. I was planning on working as a tutor at the University in the Language Lab, however, due to budget cuts that job may not be there. I seek a job because I need it to pay for school, but also because from the experience that I have had in helping students learn English, I have learned that I enjoy helping people with languages, and am fairly good at it. At University I have taken classes in primarily History and Spanish, both of which are common subjects in high schools. As for "impressive" items on my resume, I am currently on a study abroad program in Chile, the purpose of course of which is to learn Spanish. I will be returning home in December to continue my education at Southern Oregon University starting January. I have learned a lot of Spanish, and had experience helping many Chileans learn English, and I know that my experience here and my knowledge of Spanish would make me a great tutor, particularly regarding languages.

Hobbies

I am fairly laid back, and enjoy reading, primarily about economics and politics, walking, listening to music, and hanging out with friends in my free time. I also enjoy listening to current events. Spanish has been an ever growing interest of mine, particularly since I have been in Chile. My future goals include returning to Chile after I graduate to teach English so I can gain another year or two of experience in a Spanish speaking country (Chile being my obvious favorite). In the long run, I would eventually like to get involved in business management. I realized I have a knack for management and organization by getting involved with student government this past year, and serving on the Student Fee Committee.
